چکیده

We consider a setting in which the buyer’s ability to hold up a seller’s investment is so severe that there is no investment in equilibrium of the static game typically analyzed. We show that there exists an equilibrium of a related dynamic game generating positive investment. The seller makes a sequence of gradually smaller investments, each repaid by the buyer under the threat of losing further seller investment. As modeled frictions converge to zero, the equilibrium outcome converges to the first best. We draw connections between our work and the growing literature on gradualism in public good contribution games and bargaining games. r 2003 Elsevier Science (USA). All rights reserved. Integrated Inventory Model with Controllable Lead Time Involving Investment for Quality Improvement in Supply Chain System

The purpose of this article is to investigate a two-echelon supply chain inventory problem consisting of a single-vendor and a single-buyer with controllable lead time and investment for quality improvements. This paper presents an integrated vendor-buyer inventory model in order to minimize the sum of the ordering cost, holding cost, setup cost, investment for quality improvement and crashing ...

General form of a cooperative gradual maximal covering location problem

Cooperative and gradual covering are two new methods for developing covering location models. In this paper, a cooperative maximal covering location–allocation model is developed (CMCLAP). In addition, both cooperative and gradual covering concepts are applied to the maximal covering location simultaneously (CGMCLP). Then, we develop an integrated form of a cooperative gradual maximal covering ...

Characterizing Solution for Stock Portfolio Problem via Pythagorean Fuzzy Approach

The portfolio optimization is one of the fundamental problems in asset management that aims to reduce the risk of an investment by diversifying it into assets expected to fluctuate independently. A portfolio is a grouping of financial assets such as stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies and cash equivalents, as well as their funds counterparts, including mutual, exchange- traded and closed fun...

Optimal flexible capacity in newsboy problem under stochastic demand and lead-time

In this paper, we consider a newsvendor who is going to invest on dedicated or flexible capacity, our goal is to find the optimal investment policy to maximize total profit while the newsvendor faces uncertainty in lead time and demand simultaneously. As highlighted in literature, demand is stochastic, while lead time is constant. However, in reality lead time uncertainty decreases newsvendor's...

A mathematical model for the multi-mode resource investment problem

This paper presents an exact model for the resource investment problem with generalized precedence relations in which the minimum or maximum time lags between a pair of activities may vary depending on the chosen modes. All resources considered are renewable. The objective is to determine a mode and a start time for each activity so that all constraints are obeyed and the resource investment co...
